A Free Movie and Another Poetry Slam!

The Maywood Public Library and the Cook County Department of Public Health are pleased to invite you to a special screening of an award-winning film documentary entitled Unnatural Causes: Is Inequality Making Us Sick. This film will be shown on Wednesday, June 24th, from 6:00 p.m.– 8:00 p.m. in room 201, and will be followed by a dialogue and discussion.

Book Club Meeting in June

A 3-session Summer Book Club, sponsored by volunteers from the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority-Arts & Letters, and done in conjunction with the Maywood Youth Mentoring and the Maywood SafetyNet Works–Violence Prevention Program, will be beginning at the Maywood Public Library District. The Club volunteers will lead the participants in reading/discussing the book I Hadn’t Meant to Tell You This by Jacqueline Woodson.

The age group is 12-15 for approximately 20-25 youth (males and females). The schedule is as follows:

Maywood Public Library District:

Monday, June 15 6:30-7:30 pm
Monday, June 22 6:30-7:30 pm

The 3rd and final meeting will be held at Home Run Inn Pizza, 466 25th Avenue, Bellwood, Illinois, on Saturday, June 27, 12 noon to 2:00 pm.

The books will be provided by the sorority at the first session. Transportation is not provided. Ask about car pooling if needed.
